C02 laser treatment uses targeted pulses of laser light that penetrate the skin’s surface. The water inside the skin cells usually absorbs these beams. When this happens, it vaporizes the skin’s superficial layer (epidermis). The middle layer of the skin (dermis) heats up, triggering the development of new collagen fibers. When this treated area heals, you’ll start noticing new, firmer, and smoother skin. Depending on the issue you need to address, your provider might apply a fractional laser, a different type of CO2 laser.
